Ruby dolly detail

Ruby dolly

Monica hand-made this dolly and her wardrobe for Ruby. She has
freckles and kupapoofs, just like Ruby. Ruby keeps hugging her.

And then there was snow

I took these this morning with Greg's iphone.
I will find that cord today I swear.

Out of our kitchen window

View from garage door.

Here are the kids playing with the ice sheets
at the Max stop on our way back from
Hillsboro yesterday.

Our backyard.
Today we will build a snowman.

Party on...

So, because I cannot seem to find the
cord to upload the pictures from last nights
adventures you can find some
beautiful pics taken by the lovely
Autumn here.
I am pretty sure that she did a better job than I did.
I will post more later but it was really fun.
I am so impressed with all who made it to our place in
this super wacky weather.
And thank you so much Missy and Kenny for
letting us be child-free for almost 24hrs!

When our babysitter left the other day,
Wade told her he was proud of her.

Our first snow day...

I have never lived anywhere where it snowed and actually
stayed on the ground.
Today was a really big day for me.

Wade made up a new phrase for blizzard like conditions-
"too turkey Mommy". He keep saying it when we were
out in the snow and then when we came in and I was showing him
the photos of us in the snow he said "Mama that was too turkey".

Honesty

Last night Ruby pinched Wade. After Wadey cried and Monica broke it
up she told Ruby, "You have to have kindness in your heart. Do you
have kindness in your heart?"

"Well. . ." Ruby said, "some."

Fairy Faire

Ruby and I went to the Cedarwood School Winter Faire
on Saturday while Daddy and Wadey napped.
Cedarwood is a local Waldorf school that some
friends of ours go to.
There were all kinds of crafts for Ruby to do and games.
There was also a very special room called the Cookie Cave.

We also met a real fairy lady that sprinkled
Ruby with magic pixie dust.

Fairies really like to eat cookies too.

Its Beginning to Look a Lot Like..

Saturday morning we went to get our Christmas tree
with some neighbor friends.

Of course there were cookies.....
and hot cocoa. (thanks Ara!)
Oh and that once a year family photo op.

Here is my proud Jewish husband doing what
he needed to do for his Christian wife.

This was our first time cutting at a tree farm.
Oh the choices, and the weather was amazing.

Wade stopped to talk to this tiny tree.

I could have stayed there all day. It was so beautiful.

Santa stopped by our local toy store Friday night.
Here are Ruby and Aiofe (her school friend) talking to the big guy.
Unfortunately, there are no photos of Wadey.
The second Santa walked in the door he started crying and asking
to go home. Maybe next year...

Hello Winter

We went to the park yesterday afternoon.
It is official now, we need hats and mittens.
We got by for so long without them this year.
Ruby's hands were so cold that she made me promise to
never bring her to the park again
without mittens.
I wish that I could say that I am excited about
this whole Winter business,
the hat and mittens x3 can really just be a whole lot to keep track of.

Oh Winter....

Lion, King of the Colors

Painted and named by Ruby.

There is a ghost in my house

I don't know what it wants. It just keeps saying "Ooooooooh" and
humming that Edvard Greig tune.

Lately, we have been asking Ruby what she is
thankful for. Her answer everyday
for the past week has been "my Grandmas".

Also, Dr. Carsten (aka Wade) has been doing
lots of operations on The boney Man ( aka
a skeleton left over from Halloween).

Astoria

We went to Astoria a couple of weekends ago to visit these
lovely people. They are renovating a home that they bought there which
is super excellent and we can't wait to rent it in the summertime!
It was really beautiful there.
We also encountered some really loud sea lions.

Sorry it has been a post-less weekend. Darn you Facebook!
It sure is a time sucker!

Also, dear family members, I am so
proud of you all for figuring out how to comment!!!
HOORAY!

oh Ruby

Ruby made these this morning.
This is a Totoro.
Here is what it looks like when you turn the paper over.
When I asked her why she drew the back of him
she said " because then it is almost like he is really here".

This is "A starfish ballet class".

It seems like starfish really like ballet.

A wet Martinmas celebration

Ruby's school celebrated Martinmas this week.
There was a lantern walk on monday night

Of course it was raining, but that doesn't
stop anyone around here.
I think I must be fully adjusted to this rain stuff now.
The kids had so much fun and were soaked
when it was all done.
Wade wore his party skirt for the occasion.

kookapoofs

Ruby decided she needed kookapoofs today.
Usually the order is for two but today she needed five.

Here they are all five of them.
Kookapoof is the name she invented for them.
She especially loves it when I have them. Although, two
is definitely my limit.

They make her really happy.

Here she is doing a super pose in the same
sweater I made for Wade.
Lucky for me last years model still fits!
