We dyed!

Last weekend I was lucky enough to get away
for a few child free nights with a couple of crafty friends.
Tess had read an article about dying yarn with food coloring
and had let the kids try it out.
They were ready to do it kid free.
So here is how it looked to begin with.

Then we soaked it in water and vinegar.

Next, we layed it out and started dying it.
(the super fun part)

It is hard to tell what it is going to turn out like.
I was trying to make mine rainbow for leg warmers
for Ruby (Caroline had just made leg warmers
for her daughter out of the yarn the kids dyed).
I called this part the super hippie phase.
It looks all tie-dye and crazy.
Then you steam it and hang it out to dry.

I can't get over how beautiful they all turned out!
I love Caroline's pink!

Here is the almost done set!
I am really happy with how the yarn looks.
This was so much fun.
I can't wait to do it again with Ruby.

Thanks for the pics Caroline!
I forgot my camera.

I love the color that happens. Never heard of dying with food coloring or that it was color fast.
How fun.
