the many hats of parenting

Ruby came home from school today
with this tiny box.

Inside was the tooth that she has been
trying to keep from falling out for about
2 weeks.
I intentionally packed an apple
in her lunch in an effort to get the poor
wiggly thing out.
It worked!

Here is what the tooth fairy just tucked
under her sleeping head.

I hope she likes it.
I think it was really a lot more fun for
her to lose her tooth a school.
We don't have any of those tiny boxes.

First Fish

A couple weekends ago we went to
visit our friends at their cabin on the Wilson River.
We caught our first fish!
Ruby thought it was pretty great!

We have been there several times and
I have never seen the river this low or this green.
It was nice to be able to see the fish.

four fisher people.

First days

Last week was nuts.
Both kids started school.
Ruby was super mad at me for having
to drive her to her first day of kindergarten.
She wanted to take the bus.
Is she already that cool?
She is only 5.

Big girls get a locker that
they share, to put important things in.

Wade picked out his first day outfit.
He had to wear his car tie.
Everybody seems really happy at school.

How long do you think it will
take before I feel calm about it all?

She did it!!!

Pure glee!

Go Ruby go!

our wet weekend

We spent last weekend at my friends cabin
on the McKenzie River.
This is a picture of Greg getting pushed in the wagon
by four small children running really fast!

there were lots of hikes in the rain.

Wade carried all the snacks.

we spent most of our time enjoying the
scenery and looking for bugs.

this was the largest slug I have ever seen!
yuck!

lots of fun. sorry for the bad iphone shots
we forgot our camera..

I knew it was going to happen sooner or later...

I have always wondered when our first trip to
the emergency room would be.
I tried not to think about it too much but
when you are a parent you know it is most likely going
to happen. Especially when you have two kids.
You hear friends talking about their first visits.
You know it is coming.
Today was our day...
I kind of always knew it would be Ruby.
I didn't think that I would be at the gym when it happened.
I also didn't think that I would very nearly pass
out as I watched them stitch her up.
I didn't think that I would end up sitting with my head
between my legs sweating and hoping that I could just keep
it about her and not me.
I also, had no idea that Wade would be so
interested in all of it.
Today was kind of crazy.
4 stitches later we are home.
I was certain that starting school would be
the biggest event of this week.
I think I was wrong.
